Golden State Theatre Company brought the curtain down on their final performance of “The Little Princess” on May 14, 2006 and it also marked the closing of their incredibly successful long-term residency at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. After 18 years of bringing a quality theatrical experience to both audiences and performers alike, they have decided to make it their final curtain call.
Golden State Theatre Company (GST), a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, has been the resident children's theatre group at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts since 1988. They have been dedicated to bringing children and their families the finest in musical theatre. Through their many quality programs, they have worked to foster a lifelong interest in the performing arts, dedicating themselves to making sure theatre is an integral part of a child's growth and cultural experience. In addition to mainstage musicals, their arts and education programs have toured area schools, and for the past 14 years, they have worked with the City of La Mirada’s Community Services department, teaching acting workshops for local residents.
“It was time to take our final bow,” said Adriane Coros, Golden State’s Artistic Director. “We’ve had an great run here in La Mirada and we hope we brought just a little bit of the magic of theatre to this wonderful community.” Adriane worked as an actress and stage director for many years before co-founding Golden State Theatre with Raun Yankovich in 1988. As Artistic Director of GST, she has produced over 45 musicals, most of which she co-authored. Productions have included "The Little Mermaid," "Once Upon A Midsummer Nights Dream," a new version of "Cinderella," and the award winning "Wolftales.”
Jeff Brown, La Mirada Theatre’s Executive Director, noted his own affection for the group. “Adriane, Norma [Coros], and all of GST will always be a part of our La Mirada Family. They have brought many hours of joy to our community and we’re sure going to miss them. It has been a pleasure working with and enjoying them on our stage”.
